Teaching Kids Programming Franklin High School at Microsoft 12/13/2012

Hi All,

On December 13, IGNITE girls from Franklin High School traveled to Microsoft for a Teaching Kids Programming (TKP) event. Franklin students have turned out in large numbers to IGNITE events, and we were excited for the girls to learn programming and meet more amazing Microsoft women. Steph Burg and Cathy Sullivan were our leaders for the day. Both are incredibly smart women and very good with the students. Steph is a Software Development Engineer on Microsoft Word, has led many TKP events and is an inspiration for many girls.

IGNITE Presentation at Sealth High School, November 14th, 2012

Hi All,

On Wednesday, IGNITE girls from Sealth High School heard from a panel of amazing women at their first IGNITE event of 2012! The Presentation was hosted by DeAira Handugan, a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher at Sealth. DeAira is a rock star IGNITE teacher. She made sure we had a great turnout at the event, so as many girls as possible could ask questions of the volunteers. We are beyond fortunate to have her as an IGNITE Teacher, advocating for the program and for her many lucky students!

On October 26, IGNITE girls from eight schools came out for the GLITTER conference, a collaboration between IGNITE and Seattle Central Community College, where the event was held. We had a great turnout and an exciting event, which would not have been possible without the efforts and dedication of the conference planners and volunteers.
